Throughout May, begin your Saturday mornings with purpose up in the sky in View Boston! Led by JOYN instructors, flow through a 60-minute practice that blends mobility, control, and intentional movement. As part of Rhone’s commitment to Mental Fitness, this session is about more than preparing the body. It’s about sharpening the mind for what’s ahead. Take in the views. Move with intention. No yoga experience needed!
JOYN started as a community looking to practice yoga outside of traditional yoga spaces. Before your next class, get to know JOYN founders and teachers, Leah, Tobey, and Anna, a bit more below!
LEAH: We founded JOYN with the goal of bringing yoga outside of a studio and into the world. Our classes are built to be more than just yoga, incorporating themes and challenges focused on community and wellness as a whole. We know how hard it is to make time for yourself in such a busy world, so we strive to bring the time to you. Leave the outside world behind when you step into our classes. When you finish class, we hope you leave with pride, a smile, and maybe a new friend!
TOBEY: Yoga has always been a safe space for me since I first stepped on the mat in 2008. I never felt like I fit in at any of the sports I played in my early years and yoga felt like a place where everyone belonged. In 2023, when I began my teaching journey it felt like I wanted to make yoga feel as accessible as possible to all whilst also expanding beyond the traditional or corporate yoga studio. We wanted to bring yoga to the beautiful spaces all over the city and partner with companies looking to bring yoga to their employees also.
ANNA: For me, JOYN is rooted in one simple intention: choosing joy. That’s how I try to move through my life, and it naturally became the foundation for what we’re building. When we created JOYN, it wasn’t about starting another yoga offering, it was about creating spaces where people can feel something real and reconnect with themselves and others. Yoga can sometimes seem a little exclusive or intimidating, like you need to already “get it” to belong. JOYN is an open invitation. We’re intentional about everything, from the spaces we choose to the themes we bring into each class, which are often inspired by what we’re moving through in our own lives. That keeps it feeling honest, human, and relatable. At the end of the day, it’s not just about yoga. It’s about supporting people in feeling more connected, more present, and hopefully leaving with a little more joy than they came in with.
LEAH: This is the hardest question!!! “Muyè” by Rampa, Adam Port, and &ME
TOBEY: This changes all the time but at the moment. “Maya” from Benjy Wertheimer & John De Kadt
ANNA: For me, nothing hits quite like “Sweet Disposition” by Feeling Blew when transitioning from stillness to movement or vice versa.
LEAH: I could chill in fish pose for hours and be the happiest gal ever.
TOBEY: I have insanely tight hips so either Lizard Lunge or Malasana Squat.
ANNA: I’m all about hip love so any variation of kneeling crescent. Or warrior III when I’m feeling spicy.
LEAH: Teaching at View Boston always reminds me how small the world is. Seeing familiar faces looking around at the city I grew up in is so special. It reminds me that we are so small as individuals but part of something bigger when we come together as a community. To me, that’s what yoga is about and practicing yoga at View Boston makes it that much more special.
TOBEY: On a sunny day, stepping out of the elevators feels like you’re stepping out into heaven to start your day flowing above the greatest city on earth!
ANNA: The view (of course) and the way sound echoes in the space creates this powerful sense of scale that makes me feel both really small and deeply present. That contrast of vast city energy and quiet internal focus is exactly what makes the experience so special.
LEAH: Love going to Pressed Cafe after a class and I always see other people who were in the class too!
TOBEY: Pressed is where you will also find me! Grabbing a juice and a chicken caesar wrap!
ANNA: I will be running to Läderach for a fat chunk of salted caramel chocolate!
