Summer in the City returns to Prudential Center! All summer long, take a lunch break in South Garden while enjoying the complimentary performances from Berklee College of Music’s talented students. Concerts run June 4th through August 27th and are brought to us by Boston’s premier institute of music and the performing arts.
Grab a blanket and lunch from one of the Center’s restaurants and shops, and enjoy the following Berklee Summer in the City performers. South Garden can be accessed across from sweetgreen, Shack Shack, and Tree House Brewing Co. or next to Blue Bottle.
Meet the artists below, who each take the stage on Thursdays at 12PM!
Rijah shapes layers of luminous harmony and uplifting vulnerability through candid lyrics and thoughtful arrangements. Fusing the soul of her hometown of Jersey City with the jazz of Manhattan, she creates a vivid self-portrait rooted in perseverance, growth, and human nature.
Rijah made her festival debut in September 2024 at the Soundside Music Festival in Bridgeport, Connecticut, sharing the stage with Norah Jones and Noah Kahan, followed by a performance at the 2025 NAMM Show in Anaheim, California. She has also been featured in NPR’s Tiny Desk Top Shelf series.
Her latest EP “Motion Pictures” is now available on all streaming platforms. Born from a deep exploration of self and the world around her, Motion Pictures bridges youth and adulthood through an innovative lens on R&B. Blending the intricacies of jazz with the lyrical and melodic sensibilities of her musical inspirations, she weaves a sonic tapestry that is both intimate and expansive.
A Baltimore native, Brooklynn is a versatile singer, songwriter, producer, and DJ. Her distinct artistry combines authentic lyrics and ethereal vocals with lush soundscapes for a sound that is an eclectic mix, heavily inspired by opera, psychedelic, indie/alternative, and neo-soul.
Brooklynn boasts a diverse set of skills, from production and mix engineering to songwriting to vocal arranging and bandleading. She showcased these skills in Modal Soul, a collective of talented musicians she founded, which gained local attention and led her to various stages in the Boston area. Brooklynn is also a member of the popular DJ, songwriter, producer duo called DELPHIA! alongside longtime friend and collaborator Jonah Spiva. With DELPHIA!, Brooklynn DJ’d and performed original music at various venues, radio stations, and clubs across the East Coast.
Brooklynn is currently a Presidential Scholar at Berklee College of Music. Since moving to Boston, she has showcased her talent at popular local venues, including the Berklee Performance Center, the Caf, Bill’s Bar, Warehouse XI, Spectacle Island, UnCommon Stage, and the Lilypad. Spending a semester in Valencia, Spain, Brooklyn was able to perform internationally on stages such as Un Lago de Conciertos and Palau de les Artes.
Michelle Aurora and El Naka form a cinematic voice-and-guitar duo that turns minimalism into atmosphere. Michelle’s emotionally charged vocals carry a cross-cultural narrative, while El Naka’s guitar work shapes the sonic landscape with texture and precision. Together, they create an intimate, immersive experience that feels more like stepping into a film than attending a traditional live set.
Cuban-American pianist Maria Medina began her musical education in Cuba. Starting at a young age, she first earned her AA degree in music performance and education from the Conservatorio de Musica Esteban Salas in Santiago de Cuba – where she frequently performed as a classical soloist and accompanist – before graduating from State College of Florida. At State College, she was under the tutoring of Russian pianist Aza Torshkoeva and was sponsored by the Steinway Society of Sarasota Scholarship, the SCF Presidential Jazz Scholarship, and the 2022 FCSAA Student Artist State Competition Award. She performed at multiple venues in the Bradenton/Sarasota area, including a concert with the Bradenton Symphony Orchestra and the SCF Jazz Band.
Currently, Maria is pursuing an undergraduate degree in contemporary writing and production with a minor in film and media scoring at Berklee College of Music, while sponsored by the institution, the Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation, and the Fine Arts Society of Sarasota, among others. Her performances in the Boston area include the Latin America Vive Festival, Disney’s 100th Anniversary Showcase, a tribute recital to the music of Keith Jarret, and the Latin Vocal Series, among others. She’s also involved as an educator as part of Berklee’s City Music Prep Academy. Maria continues blending her passion for music with her dedication to education and artistry.
Tania Garcia Morales is a singer from the Canary Islands. She started her musical studies at the age of 4 and learned piano and percussion as instruments while at her first music school in La Orotava, Spain. She continued her studies as a contemporary musician at the Conservatori Professional del Liceu in Barcelona, before continuing her education at Berklee. During the summer of 2023, she toured with Barcelona World’s Music Ensemble to Italy.
Tania is currently studying contemporary writing and production with songwriting classes as electives while sponsored by the college and AIE, a Spanish association for artists and performers. Her performances in Boston include: A Night in Brasil, Disney’s 100th Anniversary Showcase, and Ídolos Latinos 2024.
Jade Faria is a singer, songwriter, and producer from São Paulo, Brazil, whose expansive sound invites listeners into a deeply personal and uniquely connective musical experience.
She released her debut EP “Solar” in 2022 as a collection of all original songs co-produced and arranged by Faria herself. Since then, she has collaborated with artists such as François Muleka, Luiza Brina, and Diego Xavier. She was also featured in Revista NOIZE, a well-known Brazilian music magazine, as one of the emerging voices in Brazilian popular music.
Already holding a bachelor’s degree in performing arts from the University of São Paulo, Jade Faria is currently studying music production and engineering at Berklee College of Music. With a passion for innovation and collaboration, she draws inspiration from the popular Brazilian music of the 1970s, while maintaining a distinctly contemporary sound.
Her latest release, “3—Live Session”, is a live-recorded EP featuring three original compositions with unique arrangements in a band setting. Coproduced and arranged by Jade Faria, the project celebrates the beginnings of her musical journey, recorded with some of the first musicians she ever played with.
Maggie Welch is an indie-folk artist with a funky twist, blending reflective songwriting with powerful themes of healing and self-discovery. Currently studying music therapy and songwriting at Berklee College of Music, Welch believes deeply in the transformative power of music—her ultimate goal is to guide others toward emotional healing through her songs.
Growing up in the secluded forests of New England, Maggie’s music is steeped in the introspective solitude of nature, encouraging listeners to reflect on mental health, environmental awareness, and the complexities of personal identity. She takes influence from lyrical geniuses like Jensen McRae, Shallow Alcove, and Kevin Atwater, as well as musical legends like Sammy Rae, Olivia Dean, and Melt.
Maggie is an active performer and songwriter in the Boston community, as well as a freelance photographer. Check out her debut EP “Monsters in My Guts” out now on all streaming platforms.
Karolina Wilgus is a singer-songwriter and finger-style guitarist. Inspired by soul and Brazilian music, she writes breezy songs combining soothing melodies with powerful grooves.
Finesse is a piano/flute duo that performs original and cover songs from world music repertoire, covering Cuban music, Latin jazz, Brazilian, and American music.
YARYNA is a singer and songwriter from Kyiv, Ukraine. Blending pop, R&B, and soul, she creates music shaped by a deeply soulful vocal style and emotional storytelling. Each of her songs is a sentimental journey filled with sincerity, vulnerability, and an appreciation for the beauty of music itself.
Currently studying at Berklee, ger career highlights include a sold-out solo show at 32JazzClub, representing Ukraine at the 40th Annual Berklee International Folk Festival, and collaborating with the Ukrainian Research Institute at Harvard University to organize and produce a tribute concert dedicated to Volodymyr Ivasiuk. Through these performances and collaborations, she continues to embody one of her artistic missions: being the voice of Ukraine on the international stage.
Aisha Gababa is a singer-songwriter from Orange County, California, who has turned life’s chaos into colorful, story-driven songs that make you feel you seen. Writing since childhood as a way to cope with big emotions, she’s grown into an artist with something to say, painting vivid pictures of the environment that shaped her. A first-generation Ethiopian daughter, Aisha blends soulful honesty from her upbringing and experiences with playful energy, drawing inspiration from Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, Ariana Grande, Lizzy McAlpine, and Jill Scott. Her music is where vulnerability meets vibe, with neo-soul and R&B influences.
Dart Mortis, known professionally as Lord Mortis, is a Boston-based pianist and composer. He began his musical journey after displaying the rare gift of perfect pitch, and had his first live performance at three years old. By 17, he had already recorded his first collaborative album, Catharsis, and performed at major festivals worldwide.
Mortis earned a full scholarship at Berklee College of Music, where he continued to excel in performance, production, and music business. He has led several innovative projects, including his neo-soul group, Lord Mortis Society; released a single, “Been Wondering;” co-lead hip-hop project Loud Life; co-composed with neo-soul singer Augustina on her albums Terapia and Deja Vu; and collaborated with renowned musicians such as Taron Lockett, Lenora Helm Hammonds, David Binney, Jacques Schwarz-Bart, Stephanie McKay, and Darren Barrett. Mortis has also performed in iconic venues including Carnegie Hall and NAMM and has won top honors in numerous international competitions.
Alongside his work as a performer and recording artist, Mortis has worked as a production assistant for legendary rapper Jeezy on his TM:101 tour and for Color of Noize orchestra led by Derrick Hodge. Mortis has also shared his expertise through private teaching, master classes, and residencies, while continually pushing musical boundaries in jazz, hip-hop, gospel, and R&B.
The Sophia Laure Blues Band is a Boston-based act that takes inspiration from Muddy Waters, Humble Pie, Janis Joplin, and Buddy Guy. The band combines catchy riffs with powerful vocals and a raw, captivating stage presence.
As a well-known band around campus, the Sophia Laure Blues Band made a splash with their music that has appreciation for roots, Americana, rock, and soul. These genres are incorporated into their unique set lists that combine original musical flair with classic blues standards and rock covers.
Tessa Brown is a storyteller at heart, crafting songs that weave the raw honesty of folk into a tapestry of indie, jazz, and rock. She is currently recording a large-scale project centered on the inevitability of growth—the idea that evolution persists even when we feel we’ve fallen behind.
